First Hike

Today Paco and Winston went on their first hike!

We decided we should see if they could handle being Colorado dogs

Paco and Winston had no idea what a hike was, but they were excited to go!

We headed up the hill and up the hill and up! The boys were troopers!

They sniffed and snuffled and ran all around to see and smell all that they could!

They behaved pretty well with nature and some of the other dogs!

We even got a super cool family photo:

We’ll be planning more family hikes this summer!

Paco Time

Paco likes alone time. Specifically he like to be left alone, and be far away from everyone.

We call it paco-time

We’ll all be hanging on our specific couch, chair, sometimes in a lap sometimes not… and Paco will stand up, give a cursory glance at the fam and trot his little but up stairs and “go to bed”.

He likes his private time!

Post Holiday Tuckered Monkeys

We had a full house at easter. Tons of people to harass, get pets from, steal food from, run circles around, laps to try and tray again…

By the end of the day…  it was tuckered out monkey time!

Hangin with Grandpa

This past week we were “down south” – about 20 minutes away at one of our conferences and Grandpa was babysitting the pups!

The thought they would be able to get him to give them treats and toys the minute we left but they were wrong!

Grandpa did train Paco to “go potty” from the first floor. After a couple time of walking up the 2 flights to make sure he did his business Grandpa had had enough. So that was a cool benefit for mom and dad.

The boys did convince Grandpa that them sleeping on his bed (which is really just their couch in the office) would be the best way to spend the nights. All was going ok till Grandpa rolled over once and elbowed one of them in the head… After that, they slept in their own bed!

I think they enjoyed having each other to bum around the house with!

Winston took to hanging in Grandpa’s lap whenever he would try and read his book. Similar to when we are at home – if the computer is in our laps and it is snuggle time, they’ll just move it out of their way or stare at you till you do it!

They would go look for Grandpa after he went back and home and were sad their new favorite fella was not available.

They are  counting the days till he comes back! (so is mom!)

First trip to Starbucks

This past Sunday – once mom finally got off the couch, and showered and the sun was about to set…

The pups and mom and dad headed out for a jaunt to the local Starbucks – a good – 11 block walk – each direction.

There were soooo many yummy things to try on the sidewalk – it being a game day meant lots of peanut shells around, gum, vomit from the night before – just so much to sniff and try and eat!

Paco thought he was all sneaky and grabbed a peanut shell for future investigation, but dad caught him right off and threw it away. It was a pretty disappointing moment for Paco!

We arrived at the ‘bucks and mom and dad took turns getting their coffees – we each need to keep our gold status, so neither one will relinquish the buying privilege…

Paco and Winston were pretty confused by the whole process of a parent going in a door without them…  Mom got a cute little oatmeal bowl of water for them to drink from since they were not having the squeeze bottle she had brought with. But alas, they were not going to drink “foreign” water that could have been potentially poisoned by who know…

They did pretty well with other people and dogs going by the outside of the patio – except for the little white thing – but I’m pretty sure she started it…  ;)

Skate boarders are by far the biggest offender in downtown as far as the boys are concerned. The clack clack clack over the breaks in the sidewalk are SCARY!

All in all it was a good first attempt at public interaction, and by the time the walk home was over they were done with trying to sniff each and every person we passed!

First trip to the park!

The boys have been enjoying some walks in the big coors field parking lot lately!

They are getting very good at sitting when we stop at the street crossings, but still get excited when they see birds, trash, feathers, and people!

Today we decided to take them to the park! There was sooo much to sniff!!

They met a couple new dog friends, and saw some scary dogs too!

It was such a beautiful day and they were beyond tuckered out when we finished out 20 minute walk!!

Over and Under

We have come used to Winston being able to walk over Paco and Paco easily glides under Winston!

Our cute monkies are getting better at using the dog door and not destroying our things – mostly.

Our current issue is Winston’s trash digging. We are trying to keep him from constantly pulling things out of the trash…  Hopefully it gets better, but i’m still trying to re-train the hubby to not throw his wrappers in other trash cans!

Training…

We are currently working on getting Paco and Winston to listen when we tell them to do thing.

I know, i know – that could be nearly impossible.

Our latest is to get them to sit before we cross the street.

We have been walking in the coors field parking lot, and they are doing pretty well!

Yeah!

Little Graduates

Saturday was graduation from puppy school.

We were a little nervous as to wheather or not they would perform as required to get their “diploma”.

Winston went first – sit, down, come, let some little kid annoy the crap out of you and don’t bite them, stay, and dance

Paco went after – same stuff.  Success!

Next came the “new” dog. Meaning a dog they had never met came into the room. Normal procedure is usually “present” – show your bootie to the other dog, then they get a turn to “check out” the other dog.

Winston performed as expected…  Paco – snarled and barked and whined like no-bodies business. He then received the “embarrassment procedure” – flipped on back with his goodies out for all to come and sniff.

Alas the teacher over lo0ked this faupax once he calmed down. Whew!

So now it’s up to mom and dad to continue training the monkeys!
